Triple Triangle Temptation Mystery Quilt

A Mystery Quilt in Six Parts

Finished size: 56" square

It is not a mystery why quilters love a quilt filled with triangles. Pattern, movement, excitement. Whether they evoke a mountain range or a dance, triangles add an "oomph" you can't get with a square or a rectangle.

Hone your patchwork skills using three different easy-to-sew triangle blocks in this lap-sized quilt. I have included some half-square triangles and some blocks that look like back-to-back flying geese (but which are easier to make). There are a few points to match, but not too many. And I have left plenty of room for plain or fancy quilting. Choose an exotic palette of chocolate browns and turquoise like I did, a fresh from the country theme with plaids and muted colors, or a sweet selection of roses and pale pinks. Almost any color scheme will look great if you pay attention of color value and placement.

A big "Thank You" to the Chip Off the Block Quilters who encouraged me to create a pattern for them this year. I hope they will allow me to add photos to this website when they are done--I'm sure they will inspire you as well as they inspire me with their color choices, skill, and sheer love of quilting! I would also love to see your results. If you send me a snapshot, I'll be sure to add it to our gallery.
